Step by Step:

1. 16 - 2(10 - 3)

2. 16 - 2(7)

3. 16 - 14

Answer:

A = 2

Comments:

I would suggest following PEMDAS,

P = Perenthesis,

E = Exponents,

M = Multiplication

D = Division

A = Addition

S = Subtration

For questions like these you must follow the order of operations called PEMDAS.
P arenthesis
E xponents
M ultiplication
D ivision
A ddition
S ubtraction

For your error, you subtracted 16 and 2 when you need to multiply -2 by what is in parenthesis first.

16 -2 (10 - 3) -----> Simplify what is in parentheses
16 - 2(7) ----> Multiply
16 - 14
2

I hope this helps!
