PLEASE HELP 60 POINTS

In your own words, explain what this quote means and why Lincoln includes it in his Gettysburg Address:

"We can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract."

I think what Mr. Lincoln is trying to say that they cannot dedicate that ground to the men who have fought because by fighting with everything they had they already had consecrated that land for themselves by showing that they fought with bravery.

I think he included it in the Gettysburg Address to show the significance of how brave soldiers are when they had fought in the civil war.

Hope this helps!
