Patrick Henry's second speech in the Virginia Convention, on March 23, 1775, is his most famous one. Usually referred as the "give me liberty or give me death" speech, it is basically a call-to-arms. He argues that there is no point in trying to maintain the relationship with the British crown anymore, all of the requests the colonies made have been ignored. There is no gain in being a colony anymore, the thirteen colonies are ready to create their own government and, since Britain isn't willing to step aside, the colonies should gather an army or militia to fight for their liberty, because Britain is going to fight to maintain its ruling.
