Sorry if the font is too small, you're probably gonna have 2 zoom in.

15.
Which choice best supports the idea that automata were not really as mysterious as audiences thought?
A) Lines 35-37 ("No one...performances")
B) Lines 40-41 ("They used...audiences")
C) Lines 43-45 ("No one...sang")
D) Lines 45-47 ("It was...clockworks")

I need an explanation too because the next question asks why it was that answer. Thanks in advance.

The best choice is answer D) Lines 45-47 ("It was...clockworks") The writer explains how each magician amazed large groups of audiences, not with magic but with clockwork. Magicians began as clockwork makers creating automata with parts and used it to astonish their guests.

the answer is

D) Lines 45-47 ("It was...clockworks")

what i can conclude from the passage is that the narrator is trying to show the readers audience think that its all in magic but in reality its clockwork they are using to perform
