What similarities do you see between the medieval European and Japanese social hierarchies? Which social class in either society, would you prefer to be a part of, and why?

A big similarity was that both medieval Europe and Japan employed feudalism; roughly summarized in Europe as: King --> Clergy --> Nobles --> Knights (Vassals) --> Serfs; summarized in Japan as: Emperor --> Shoguns --> Daimyo --> Samurai (Vassals) --> Serfs. Addressing the second portion of yoru question, it's YOUR opinion, so I'll leave it up to you :)
