For this case we have that by definition, the equation in the form of slope-intersection is given by:

y = mx + b

Where

  • m is the slope
  • b is the cut point

Substituting the given point:
(x, y) = (2, -4) and the cutoff point
b = -2 we can find the slope,

We have:

-4 = m * 2-2\\-4 = 2m-2\\-4 + 2 = 2m\\-2 = 2m

m =-(2)/(2)\\m = -1

Thus, the equation is given by:

y = -x-2

Answer:

y = -x-2
