Trey is given expression:
(12)/(15) +(1)/(10)..

He got the answer
(13)/(25).

Solution: The denominators of the given expression are 15 and 10.

Therefore, in order to add the fractions, we need to find common denominator of 15 and 10.

Common denominator is the least common denominator.

Least common denominator of 15 and 10 is 30.

Therefore, Trey need to make both denominator as 30.

12/15 would become 12×2/15×2 = 24/30.

1/10 would become 1 × 3/ 10 × 3 = 3/30.

On adding 24+3, we get 27.

So, 24/30 + 3/30 = 27/30.

And 27/30 could be written in simplest fractions as 9/10.

But Trey got answer 13/25.

Therefore, Trey answer incorrect.

He must find common denominator (LCD) first and then add the fractions.
