x = 2 ±
(1)/(2)√10

express the equation in standard form : ax² + bx + c = 0 ( a ≠ 0 )

then x = ( - b ±√( b² - 4ac) ) / 2a

given 2x² = 8x - 3, then

2x² - 8x + 3 = 0 ( in standard form )

with a = 2, b = - 8, c = 3

x = (8 ±√(64 - 24) )/4 = (8 ±√40) / 4 = (8 ± 2√10) / 4

x = 2 ±
(1)/(2)√10
