Can someone give me good summary and description of what the first amendment is?

The First Amendment is an amendment that states the basic freedoms each citizen or individual that lives in the United States has. Such as the freedom of speech, press, assembly, petition and religion. For example, a journalist or newspaper company can publish any article as long as it is true and proven. A person can follow any religion in the U.S such as Muslim, Catholic and etc as long as it doesn't offended or interfere with anything.
