Answer:

\boxed{\boxed{\sf(5)/(12)=0.416666667}}

Solution Steps:

______________________________

1.) Find the LCF of 6 and 4:

  • 6,4=12

- We do this because in order to add these, they must have the same denominator. So you must find the LCF, (Least Common Factor) of 6 and 4.

2.) Convert the fractions to have the same denominator:

  • (1)/(6)=(2)/(12)

  • (1)/(4)=(3)/(12)

-
(1)/(6) changes to
(2)/(12) by multiplying the numerator and denominator by 2. And
(1)/(4) changes to
(3)/(12) because you multiply the numerator and denominator by 3.

3.) Add the numerators:

  • 2+3=5

- Since both fractions have the same denominator all you have to do is add the numerators together.
