10000 - 500= 9500

Explanation:

so 10 exponent 4 is the same as 10000 and 10 exponent 1 is hundred 5×100= 500. so basically it's just 10000-500 which is 9500

First simplify the problem

1 x 10^4 would equal 1 x 10,000 so that would be 10,000 than,

5 x 10^1 would equal 5 x 10 so that would be 50 now,

10,000 - 50 = 9,950

And whenever your doing 10 to the power of anything just put a 1 and the number of zeros the power of is

Example: 10^9 = 1,000,000,000 or 10^3 = 1,000

This rule does not apply to numbers other than 10
