Add
(x)/(2) to both sides:

(2x)/(5)+(x)/(2) = 9

Add the fractions in the left hand side:

(2x)/(5)+(x)/(2) = (4x)/(10)+(5x)/(10)=(9x)/(10)

So, the equation becomes

(9x)/(10)= 9

Multiply both sides by 10:

9x = 90

Divide both sides by 9:

x = 10
