An intra-abdominal abscess can be located inside the belly or abdominal cavity, which is compose of the stomach, small intestine and large intestine. This abscess is a collection of pus or infected fluid that was characterized by inflamed tissue inside the abdominal cavity.

Moreover, intra-abdominal abscess can be caused by a bacterial infection specifically Escherichia coli or E. coli that could multiply, then cause tissue inflammation and eventually destroy healthy tissues.
