In the basketball some baskets are worth two points others are worth three points in one game the ratio of three point baskets to three point tries for one team was 2:7 if the team scored 30 points from three point baskets how many three point tries did the team have ?

Let
b be the number of three points baskets, and
t be the number of three points tries. We are given


(b)/(t) = (2)/(7) \iff 2t=7b

Also, we know that the team scored 30 points from three points baskest. Since these baskest are worth 3 points, we have


3b=30 \iff b = 10

Now, we also know that
2t=7b. If we plug the known value for b, we can solve for t:


2t = 7\cdot 10 \iff 2t = 70 \iff t = 35
