An electric heater has a resistance of 50 ohms. If the applied voltage in a circuit containing the heater is 110 V, how many amps of current are flowing through the heater?

Use Ohm's Law:

V = I × R
(110) = I × (50)
2.2 Amps = I

Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the voltage across the two points.

Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance,the Ohm's law can be mathematically represented as

V=I x R

Where V is the voltage measured in volts

I is the current measured in amperes

R is the resistance measured in ohms

Given:

V=110 volts

R= 50 ohms

Now substituting the values in Ohm's law we get

V = I x R

110= I x 50

I= 110/50

I= 2.2 A.
