8x - 9 = 8
+9 +9 (add 9 in both sides)

8x = 17
÷8 ÷8 (divide 8 in both sides)

x = (17)/(8)
Here you go
If you don't know how I've done you need to use their inverse operations.

To solve this, first add 9 on both sides.

8x-9+9=8+9

8x=17

Then divide both sides by 8 to find the value of x.

(8x)/(8)=
(17)/(8)

x=
(17)/(8)

The final answer is x=
(17)/(8) or 2.125.
