According to the actual rules, a Supreme Court Justice is appointed by the President and basically could serve for 30 years or more,which in practice, it could be a position for life. The parties nominate a member of each party by majority who then is elected by the House, again by majority,and this is the way the Speaker of the House is elected. Then, the Speaker of the House appoints the Comittee Chairs.
Finally, a Congressman is elected directly by the people; a Senator is elected by statewide voters whereas Congressmen are elected according to the Congressional Districts, which are approximately 435; they are accountable to their electors.
