Providence as we know it, is God's actions and the resources He gives human beings in order for them to survive and develop; in other words, God gives humans the tools needed and required to live a happy and full life.
According to Beveridge, the expansion of America was in accordance with the divine providence; it was mandatory to continue the United Stated expansion into the Philippines and the Pacific Rim. For him, this expansion will ensure and economical and political growth for the United States; this idea was supported by the 19th century Manifest Destiny.
