3(3x - 8) + 4x = -2(12 - 7x) - x

9x - 24 + 4x = -24 + 14x - x distributed 3 on the left and -2 on the right

- 24 + 13x = -24 + 13x added like terms on the left and the right

-13x -13x

-24 = -24
