Answer:Total number of side pieces
= 14

Explanation:

To find the number of side pieces we use formula =
(Area of wooden plank)/(Area of 1 side piece)

Area of wooden plank
= length * width

Length of wooden plank
=(77)/(8)feet =(77)/(8) * 12 inches

Length
= (231)/(2) inches

Width of plank
= (9)/(16) foot = (9)/(16) * 12 =(27)/(4) inches

Area of plank
= (231)/(2) * (27)/(4) sq inches

Area of 1 side piece
= (33)/(4) * (27)/(4) sq inches

Now using formula

Number of pieces
= (Area wooden plank)/(Area of 1 side piece)

=((231)/(2) * (27)/(4) )/ ((33)/(4) * (27)/(4))

Converting division into multiplication we get,

=((231)/(2) * (27)/(4) )* ((4)/(27) * (4)/(33) )

On solving we get

= 14

Total number of side pieces
= 14
