Silk Soymilk's sponsorship of the FarmAid concert is best thought of as an example of its "philanthropic activities".

Philanthropy includes charitable providing for human causes on an expansive scale. Magnanimity must be something other than an altruistic gift. It is an exertion an individual or association embraces dependent on a charitable want to enhance human welfare. Affluent people some of the time build up establishments to encourage their philanthropic endeavors.

Philanthropy goes back to Greek savant Plato in 347 B.C. His will educated his nephew to utilize the returns of the family homestead to finance the foundation that Plato established. The cash helped understudies and staff keep the foundation running.
