The priests or Brahmins are the highest group in the Indian caste system.

The Brahmin are the top tier of the caste system and are considered to be rewarded for a pure life in the the Shudra caste which is below the Brahmin. The Brahmin had the obligation to carry the rights and rituals of Hinduism in India. They were the most respected of the castes in India and were involved in the day-to-day lives of people practicing Hinduism.
