I was so surprised when Anne admitted that she and her family were partially to blame for the disagreements with the Van Daans. It's shocking to me because I don't think that, in 1942, Anne was able to maturely reflect on her role in causing discord; however, in this entry dated January 22, 1944, she says, "It could have been quite different if we'd remain perfectly open and friendly, and not always only on the lookout for something to seize on." This entry reveals Anne's growing maturity. The war and situation is forcing her to grow up quickly.

Because of her situation being in hiding, she has had time to reflect and mature faster than she would have. Her growing maturity was good at that time because it allowed her to understand their situation. These changes are important because it shows who Anne was and they show how she was able to make good observations about the world around her, despite being trapped in the annex

She grew mature quickly and she understood how her life in war was. These are important because they show how Anne was and how she was observant.
