Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40

Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40

Based on the multiples up to 40 there are 3 numbers that are multiples of 4 but not 8. They are 12, 28 and 36.

Based on the choices given the answer would be 12.
