x = 2x + 1

x - 2x = 1

-x = 1

x = -1

Solution :

Given , function
f(x) = 2x+1

we have to find the inverse of the function f(x)

Substitute y for f(x):
y=2x+1

Subtract 1 from both sides,
y-1=2x+1-1

Divide both sides by 2,
(y-1)/(2) = x

\Rightarrow x=(y-1)/(2)

Substitute
f^(-1)(y)\:for\:x
\RIghtarrow f^(-1)(y)=(y-1)/(2)

Hence, The inverse of the function
f(x)=2x+1\:is f^(-1)(y)=(y-1)/(2)
