Mark is making a scale model of his favorite truck. The actual truck is 12 feet long and 5 feet wide. He wants the model to be 30 inches in length. Using a proportion, find the model truck’s width.

Answer:

the model trucks width would be 12.5 inches.

Explanation:

set up a proportion.

12/5=30/?

cross multiply.(this makes sense when the fraction is written out correctly)

5x30=150

now divide this by your remaining number in the fraction.

150/12=12.5
