x= -4 because 1.4 times -4=- 5.6 and 2.6 times -4=-10.4 and when we add to numbers postive or negative numbers it stays positive or negative depnding on the problem and 10.4 + 5.6 + 16 however becuase both were negative the answers stays negative making the answer _ 16 and it says 1.4x+2.6x=-16 so the correct answer is x= -4

Answer: The correct option is

(A) -4.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given to find the value of x that makes the following equation true :

1.4x+2.6x=-16~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(i)

To find the value of x, we must solve the given equation.

The solution of equation (i) is as follows :

1.4x+2.6x=-16\\\\\Rightarrow (1.4+2.6)x=-16\\\\\Rightarrow 4x=-16\\\\\Rightarrow x=-(16)/(4)\\\\\Rightarrow x=-4.

Thus, the required value of x is -4.

Option (A) is CORRECT.
