A snack of an apple, a brownie, and a cheese stick has 270 calories. Two brownies and an apple have 290 calories. Two apples and three cheese sticks have 420 calories. How many calories are in each item?
Let a=calories in an apple, b=calories in a brownie, and c=calories in a cheese stick.

270=2b + a
420=2a + 3c (you have to use trial and error for this)

B = 120
A = 30
C = 120

270 = (2x120) + 30
420 = (2x30) + (3x120)
