What is the point slope form of the line with the slope -3/7 that passes through the point (5, 8)

A) y + 8 = -3/7 (x + 5)

B) y + 5 = -3/7 (x + 8)

C) y - 5 = -3/7 (x - 8)

D is the correct answer

The equation of a line in ' point- slope form ' is

y - b = m(x - a )

where m is the slope and (a, b ) a point on the line

here m = -
(3)/(7) and (a, b ) = (5, 8 )

y - 8 = -
(3)/(7) (x - 5 ) ← in point- slope form
