Solve for x: 27=17+2x

x = 5
move variable to left side and change its sign

27 = 17 + 2x
to
(you also move the constant to the right and change its sign)

- 2x = 17 - 27
and then calculate the operation in this case you find the difference

- 2x= 17 - 27 = - 10 \\ - 2x = - 10
you then divide both sides of the equation by -2 since the inverse operation of multiplying is division

x = 5

27=17+2x
