Answer:

x = 14

y = 40

Explanation:

if the polygons are similar then we can use the proportional values to find x and y:

20/45 = (2x-8)/(5x-25) cross multiply expressions

100x - 500 = 90x - 360 export like terms to the same side of the equation

100x - 90x = 500 - 360

10x = 140 divide both sides by 10

x = 14

since the polygons are similar 3y + 8 = 128 subtract 8 from both sides

3y = 120 divide both sides by 3

y = 40
