(x - 12 )(x + 4 )

consider the factors of - 48 which sum to - 8. These are - 12 and + 4

x² - 8x - 48 = (x - 12)(x + 4) ( in factored form )

Answer:

(x+4)(x-12)

Explanation:

x^2-8x-48

Factor the given expression

Product is -48 and sum is -8

-12 times 4 is -48

-12 plus 4 is -8

So two factors that gives us product -48 ans um -8 is -12 and 4

LEts break -8x using the factors

x^2-8x-48

x^2-12x+4x-48 Group the terms

(x^2-12x)+(4x-48), Take out GCf from each group

x(x-12)+4(x-12)

Now factor out x-12

(x+4)(x-12)
