The answer is true.

According to plate tectonics, given the convection current of magma, causing two plates on Earth to move apart from each other.

Meanwhile the magma will fill the cracks and create new plate material, thus is what we called seafloor spreading which further push the pates apart.

Therefore, convection current do play a role on the movements of the plates on Earth’s crust.

Hope it helps!
