The 2x means "2 times x". We can write it as "2*x" to be more clear that we're using multiplication. Two times some number is larger than 6. To figure out the possible numbers, we divide both sides by 2

2x \ge 6

(2x)/(2) \ge (6)/(2)

x \ge 3

So x can be 3 or larger
