The length of a rectangle is 8 cm more than it’s width. The perimeter is 68 cm. Find the length and the width of the rectangle.

To solve this we need to form an equation, using L for length and W for width

Perimeter=2L+2W
68=2L+2W

Because the length is 8cm more than the width we can say it is W+8.

68=2(W+8)+2W
68=2W+16+2W
68=4W+16
52=4W
W=13cm
L=(13+8)=21cm
