The slope-intercept form: y = mx + b

m - slope

b - y-intercept

The slope-point form: y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

We have:

m = 3 and the point (-5, 6) → x₁ = -5 and y₁ = 6

Substitute:

y - 6 = 3(x - (-5))

y - 6 = 3(x + 5) |use distributive property

y - 6 = 3x + 15 |add 6 to both sides

y = 3x + 21

Answer: y = 3x + 21
