An airplane is at an elevation of 4,280 ft. It ascends 600 ft. and later descends 1,500 ft. What is its final elevation?

Add 600 feet to 4,280 feet. Then subtract 1,500 feet from the resulting sum:

4,280 ft + 600 ft = 4,880 ft

Now subtract 1,500 ft from this 4,880 ft: 3,380 ft (answer: final elevation)
