Let's start with simplification. We'll start with the original equation:

4-6a+4a=-1-5(7-2a)

Now we will add like terms ( like terms means any number in the same category like -6a and 4a are like terms, but -6a and 4 are not)

4-2a=-1-35+10a

We changed the -2a to a positive number because we multiplied two negatives, making a positive. Now we will add 2a to both sides.

4=-1-35+10a

Now, we will add 36 to both sides.

40=10a

Now we will simplify

4=a

And there we go!
