EUROPE and Asia have been welded together for at least 300 million years. Geophysically, continents are defined by the thickness and composition of their crust, which (unlike oceanic crust) is silica-rich and thick. There are seven patches of continental crust, but it makes sense to subdivide them where they are cut by tectonic plate boundaries, because the fragments are in relative motion. This makes 14 continents in all: Jan Mayen, the Rockall Plateau, the Agulhas Plateau (south of South Africa), the Seychelles, New Zealand, Antarctica, South America, Central America, North America (including a large chunk of Siberia), Eurasia, Australia, India, Arabia and Africa I HOPE THIS CAN HELP YOU
