x=60/17, y=-11/17

Explanation:

$2x=9+3y \implies y=(2x-9)/(3)$

Substituting this into the second equation,

$4\left((2x-9)/(3) \right)=8-3x\\\\4(2x-9)=3(8-3x)\\\\8x-36=24-9x\\\\17x=60\\\\x=(60)/(17)\\\\\\\implies y=(2(60/17)-9)/(3)=-11/17$
