Hello!

For the second one you need to provide the article that goes along with it.

That being said it's most likely A, however I cannot be sure.

And for the first one it is C.

I would suggest that you look up the scene this is taken from. It is a parody. These guys (there are 4 of them) are supper calm while a fire rages below them. The firemen are waiting for the room they are in to be engulfed in flames and the two others who were just visiting, before the arrival of the firemen, by saying nothing. The one who is staying in the hotel can hardly wait to get rid of his "company."

You would think that these people were in an insane asylum were it not for the fact that it is a parody.

I don't know what hint you could use to show that it is parody of the British with their stiff upper lip and their stilted mannerisms. If you picked C, I sure can't argue with you. No other line is any better. B sounds like it comes from Dumb and Dumber. D refers to the character looking out the window to see the fire. Go with C.

Two

The threat is in A.

That which we do not understand, we fear. Or it's a huge temptation.

C deserves a comment. The first colored person to receive an Academy Award was Hattie McDaniel for her portrayal of Mammy in Gone with the Wind. That was in 1940. There haven't been more than a couple of handfuls since then if that many. The author of this piece is saying "Isn't that odd and noteworthy." But there is no threat.

There's no threat in E. It is a well founded statement. It is just saying that with no sight on minorities as sharing what makes all of us, there can be no understanding. B says almost the same thing.

D and C more or less make the same observation about different subject areas, but there is no threat.

Only A contains the threat the whites may feel.
