Hey there!!

Let's take the number as ' x '

Three times the difference of a number and 5 :

Difference of a number and 5 : x - 5

Three times : 3 ( x - 5 )

This is same as :

1 increased by 5 times the number plus twice the number :

5 times a number : 5x

2 times number a number : 2x

Added : 7x

1 plus the sum : 1 + 7x

Now,

The equation :

3 ( x - 5 ) = 1 + 7x

3x - 15 = 1 + 7x

4x = -16

x = (-16)/(4)

x = -4

Hence, the number is -4

Hope my answer helps!

3(x-5)=1+(5x+2x)
3x-15=1+7x
-15=1+7x-3x
-15=1+4x
-15-1=1+4x-1
-16=4x
-16/4=4x/4
-4=x
