Guys help me with System of linear equations:

2x+y=5
x-y=1
What are the steps? Formula ?

Step 1: Add the two equations together to get just one equation.


2x + y + x - y = 5 + 1


Step 2: Simplify.


3x = 6


Step 3: Divide by 3 on both sides.


3x / 3 = 6 / 3


x = 2


Therefore, the answer is x=2
