The large-scale migration that occurred during the Middle Ages resulted into the following;
• Increased invasions throughout western Europe such as that of the Goths and Vandals with some of these invaders purposing for war and pillaging.
• The new population resulted into diverse changes that include new patterns of property ownership, new religion, laws and ways of living.
• There was a breakdown of trade routes and no exportation of goods because of security issues in the short trade routes.This resuted to localized forms of economy.
• There was a breakdown of military structures and educational strategy resulting to increased illiteracy.
• Trade volume reduced during 400AD and 600AD due to a declined population.This affected agriculture in terms of crop yields and plantations owners faced cases of fleeing of slaves.
• Invasion of smallpox into western Europe in 581 AD.
