The importance which contributed to king Henry's viii's departure from catholic church was that, the king wanted a divorce from his wife.

He had six marriages. He went to a disagreement with the Pope when he wanted to divorce his wife Catherine and this led to separation of church in England.

He was the supreme Head of Church where he appointed himself and he dissolved the monasteries and convents where was excommunicated.
