answer: (3,4)

multiply both sides of the top equation by 2

get rid of the x variable by subtracting add all corresponding numbers and variables (4+(-4), -4+7, -4+16) which leaves you with 3y=12

divide both sides by 3 which cancels out the 3y and leaves you with y=4

input y in your top equation to find x. (-2x+2x4=2)

this leaves you with x=3
