Emily is making a punch that contains 75% apple juice and the rest ginger ale. The punch has 2 liters of ginger ale.

Part A: Write an equation using one variable that can be used to find the total number of liters of apple juice and ginger ale in the punch. Define the variable used in the equation. Hint: 0.75x represents the number of liters of apple juice in the punch. (5 points)

Let x be the total number of liters of apple juice and ginger ale in the punch. Then

x liters - 100%

2 liters - 100%-75%=25%.

Mathematically it can be represented as proportion

(x)/(2)=(100)/(25),\\\\x=(2\cdot 100)/(25)=8\ liters

If the total number of liters of apple juice and ginger ale in the punch is 8 liters and the punch has 2 liters of ginger ale, then the punch has 8-2=6 liters of apple juice.

Answer: Part A: 8 liters, Part B: 6 liters.
