A student did an experiment with two identical plants, Plant 1 and Plant 2. About 10 mL fertilizer was added to both plants. About 200 mL of water was added to Plant 1 every day. About 250 mL of water was added to Plant 2 once a week. The height of the plants was recorded over a period of 5 weeks in the table shown below.

Based on the table, which of these conclusions is correct?

A) Fertilizer helps plants grow taller.
B) A plant can survive without water for five days.
C) The plant which receives more water grows taller.
D) The growth of a plant is affected by the amount of light it receives.

(Does this question not make sense to anyone else? The plants were given the same amount of fertilizer and weren't deprived of water for five days. Also, the plant that received less water grew taller than the other. The only other option for the answer would be D, but light was not mentioned in the question. Help?)

It says 200 ml was added to 1 every DAY and 250 ml was added to 2 every WEEK. :-) By reading it correctly the answer is clearly C, as it actually did receive more water.

Answer:

C) The plant which receives more water grows taller.

Step-by-step explanation:

Plant 1 received 200 ml of water everyday whereas plant 2 received 250 ml of water once in 7 days. Plants need water for photosynthesis. Through photosynthesis plants make food to grow and survive. Plants use their roots to absorb water from the soil. Important nutrient dissolved in water reaches every part of the plant through stems and leaves.
