The Byzantine Empire had an important cultural legacy, both on the Orthodox Church and on the revival of Greek and Roman studies, which influenced the Renaissance. The classical Greco- Roman heritage of Byzantinum was central to the writers and artists of the period. Byzantine scholars read the scientific and philosophical works on the Ancient Greeks and expanded upon them. Artists adopted their naturalistic style and complex techniques from Ancient Greek and Roman art, and mixed them with Christian themes.
Roman Civilization influenced their social and political life, they spoke latin and enfaced Roman Laws. Over time, they began to speak Greek instead of latin. When people migrated out of Constantinople in 1453, their exodus contributed to the revival of Greek and Roman studies, which led to the development of the Renaissance in humanism and science.
