a mass of 40 grams cause a spring to stretch to the length of 40 cm, A mass of 60 grams causes it to stretch to a lenght of 6.7 cm. Write an equation that models this length of a spring, l, based on the weight of the mass, g. What does the y intercept mean in this case? What does te slope mean in this case?

Answer

Part 1: l = -1.665g

Part 2: Max-mum the spring can support.

Part 3: The spring constant.

Step-by-step explanation

Gradient is also called the slope.

Slope = (change in y) /(change in x)

= (60 -40)/(6.7 - 40)

= 20 / -33.3

= - 0.600600601

Since the graph is a straight line, the equation would be,

m ∝ l

m = kl Where K is the constant.

g = -0.60l

l = -1.665g

Part 2

The Y-intercept represent the mix-mum weight the spring can support.

part 3

The slope in this case represent the spring constant.
